A midlands coach operator that was Highly Commended in this year's UK Coach Awards has expressed support and praise for the UKCA scheme in an article about the firm in Coach and Bus Week magazine.
Hardings International is a long-established firm with a history dating back over 80 years and based in Redditch, and was acquired last year by two of the management team - Malcolm Playford and Malcolm Chance - from the surviving children of the firm's founder Ernest Harding.
The company now runs a fleet of over 40 vehicles, and received its prize in the medium fleets category of the Coach Operator of the Year competition, voted for by group organisers and then tested for customer-friendliness in a mystery shopper exercise.
Malcolm Chance told Coach and Bus magazine, “The award evening was fantastic. We took a load of our staff down. It was nice to meet people from the right across the industry. I enjoyed talking to Kevin from Woods Coaches of Leicester. My wife Lisa and I made a weekend of it in London. It was just great.”
Group sales manager Elaine Hanglin, who has worked with Hardings for over 18 years, also spoke highly of the awards evening. “I was delighted to be there – it’s an excellent venue [Guoman Tower Hotel]. We’ve used it for London weekends for a long time,” she said. “It also provided a great opportunity to meet other coach operators, tour wholesalers, attractions and ticket wholesalers – people who I regularly come into contact with,” she said.
