This category recognises the use of innovative and original ideas in development and implementation of programmes of coach tours and/or excursions. The judges look for programmes that are well-researched, and developed in partnership with quality suppliers and attractions.
Gold Award Winner: Johnsons Coach & Bus Travel, Henley-in-Arden
In 2014 Johnsons brought together all its holiday products in one high quality brochure.
Since launching in October, bookings for the 2014 season are well up on previous years. The company has taken great pains to research customer preferences and develop a range of products designed to cater for almost every taste.
The judges were very impressed with the range and presentation of the 2014 programme.
Winner, Silver Award: Shearings Holidays: Grand Tourer
Grand Tourer is a range of premium holidays and escorted tours from Shearings Holidays, including features such as free door-to-door pick-ups.
The bulk of the Grand Tourer programme is based in Europe, but the UK element is being increased for 2014. Using company-owned hotels in many cases, it allows Shearings to have full control over the delivery of the holiday from start to finish.
The judges praised this attempt to raise standards in coach touring and to appeal to a different market.
Winner, Bronze Award: Edwards Coach Holidays
Edwards Coaches is a successful business built on top class service and local loyalty in its home area of South Wales. Over the years it has adapted to changes in the coach tourism sector and has even bought its own hotel in Cornwall.
The judges noted the impressive programme of tours in the UK and on the Continent and the way in which these are marketed.
Judges' Special Commendation: NMC Tours (Gardiners NMC)
Founded in 2008, Gardiners NMC is still a relatively young company, but it has been able to grow its business every year since. Its tour and day excursion programme operates in the Northumberland area and receives excellent feedback from customers. The judges felt that the company should be recognised for its investment, forward-looking management and high quality products. They particularly liked the themed approach to brochure presentation.
