About Us: What the Awards are all about

Judges praise high standards and hard work as UKCA 2017 finalists announced

UKCA chairman John GilbertThe UK Coach Awards have announced the list of finalists for their 2017 competition, praising the high standards and hard work demonstrated by all the people, projects and organisations that have made the final stages.

The list comprises a total of 58 nominations - covering people, projects or organisations. They cross 14 categories covering the whole range of activities involved in the planning, promotion and operation of coach services. The winners of two other awards will be announced at the Annual Presentation Ceremony on 4 May.

Congratulating all the finalists, UK Coach Awards chairman John Gilbert commented, "Our awards are recognise and reward excellence and good practice at all levels in the industry, amongst all operators, large or small, and in all types of work from express through contracting to coach touring. I am delighted to say that this year's list of finalists encompasses all these. Winning is about what you do and how you do it, not how big or small you are."

The judging was undertaken by two independent panels of highly experienced people with intimate knowledge of coach operations, marketing and tourism. John Gilbert said, "This was my first involvement in the judging process, and I was really struck by the hard work and commitment involved - we really are most grateful to our panels. They really did face some difficult decisions in a very strong field."

The final results will be announced at the Annual Presentation Ceremony compered by Carol Kirkwood, which will take place at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester on Thursday 4 May. CLICK HERE for further information.
