A new award recognising the importance of the internet, social media and other electronic communication has been announced as part of the UK Coach Awards competition for 2018. Entries opened this week for what is the tenth annual contest, and a new video was launched to help promote the scheme.

Peter gets his reward for a job well done

Peter Oakley receives his certificate from Sue WoodroofeCoach driver Peter Oakley has been presented with a highly commended certificate in the category "Top UK Education Services Driver" launched for the first time this year.

Peter is a driver with GSAL in Leeds, which provides transport services for The Grammar School at Leeds. He was nominated by GSAL earlier this year for the first ever UK Coach Award in the new Top Education Services Driver category.

His nomination followed an internal competition to select the best of their workforce to go forward to the UKCA contest. Unfortunately, there were insufficient entries this year to enable a viable competition to be held - but the judges felt that Peter fully deserved a highly commended certificate for his success internally and for doing a great job for GSAL.

Go ahead for 10th annual contest

John Gilbert at the 2017 ceremonyPlans for the 2018 competition for the UK Coach Awards have been given the green light, with a revised set of categories and other detailed changes. The revised approach follows completion of two months of research and consultation, which concluded with the third annual Stakeholders’ Meeting in June. This will be the tenth annual competition.

West Midlands coach companies claim quadruple gold in national awards contest

Coach operators and their staff in the West Midlands are celebrating after being named as winners in the 2017 UK Coach Awards. The ninth annual awards were presented before an audience of 250 industry movers and shakers in a glittering ceremony at Manchester's Mercure Piccadilly Hotel on the evening of Thursday 4 May. Operators from the region scooped no fewer than four Gold Awards in the nationwide contest.
